Authors of the 20th Century
Directly after the end of the Second World War the public commenced to think that the world’s basic principles are simple and coherent . Both global politics and social relations were counting on the ideas of advancement , positive changes , belief in science , understanding , technological innovations , and the potential to reason any phenomenon from a logical point of view . However , beginning from the second half of the 60’s, the world has begun to deteriorate and currently , 40 years later , we find ourselves in a new type of reality .
We easily spot those changes which are brought to us by new technology, but we infrequently are aware of the fact that there are concrete thoughts which the author has put behind those inventions . The essence of the expected change was at first noticed by those people, who more often than not lived ahead of their time – poets and authors. Among the numerous authors whose poems have served for amusement , there have been several of them who have given the planet a new vision . They have more effectively than others other authors created and formulated new ideas and have ultimately molded a new intellectual and perceptual grounding of the future. They have seen challenges in the mundane of our lives and have shed light onto a number of problems, which were going on without being noted . They have helped us to think of the new issues , and sent us new hope .
These were the authors who have determined the mindset of the entire generation, which has taken the blow of drastic change; change, which was viewed as mayhem at the dawn of the 21 first century. They have made us focus our attention to the most vital dilemmas of the past epoch ; those issues , which the people , having survived through the world wars and unseen violence , was afraid to meet . Finally they were raising the most critical question “What will happen in the future”?
In this paper we will mention several of the most prominent authors of the last century. They have all much affected literature of their period, have reflected tendencies and problems which were relevant to their countries and the period of time they were living in, and have made the audience meditate on the actual set of values, having them understand that it is far away from being genuine. One of the most exciting feature of their work is that in most cases they have evoked the people interest in books and written works. from this angle one of the most interesting success works is that of a famous author John Cheever.
The success of Joan Rowling can be called special as she has become the first author in the world to earn $1 billion by authoring fairytales. She is today spending a extensive part of her profit on charity, confronting poverty and illness. The plot of the book was found while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first agreed to bring out her book, she has awarded her 1500 pounds together with a kind piece of advice — to find a stable job. He was hesitant of the idea that the young writer would be able to make a living off of writing. Joann has proved the opposite - having produced a number of amazing fairytales, she has made the so-called non-reading generation get back to reading.
